Martin Atkinson Specialist Cars are delighted to offer for sale this super rare right-hand drive 1965 Ford Mustang.

Finished in Honey Gold with Olive Green interior, this particular Mustang has spent the majority of it’s cossetted life out in sunny Australia (40+ years) and has only been used sparingly by the three owners in total that it had whilst out there.

The customer who part exchanged with us spent a couple of years out in Australia building wind turbines and used it as an occasional vehicle to enjoy in his free time whilst out there. He loved it so much he brought it all the way back here, but with a new contract to work out in Asia he made the decision to move it on to us.

Judging by the condition of it, the previous owners must have spent a small fortune! The engine bay is clean as a whistle with all parts looking very fresh. We have been advised by it’s current owner that the right hand drive conversion was professionally carried out at a cost of circa £15,000. Other works he mentioned were to both the auto box and engine.

The leather seating is like new and the finish overall inside is superb, so we would surmise that this has been restored in the not too distant past. Inside there are other additions, such as a custom auto Bluetooth radio with additional rear speakers and a centre console armrest that sits on top of the transmission tunnel in between the seats. It has custom clocks and runs a GPS speedo, so is super accurate. We have the original American clocks showing just over 68,000 miles. A KMs speedo had to be installed for use in Australia and the current owner has advised that the total mileage of the vehicle is just over 80,000.

We’ve had the vehicle up on our ramps and it is very clean underneath. It has certainly seen the benefit of living in a country that doesn’t see much rain! We’ve done a Youtube video of this so you can see for yourself.

I have personally covered 60 miles in it and was blown away by how well it runs and drives. The engine burbles away nicely on tickover and turns into a throaty roar as you press on through the rev range. It pulls very strongly with no complaints from the auto gearbox and sat at 80mph on the motorway without any problems. It feels surprisingly sure-footed through the bends too, possibly due to the anti-roll bars fitted both front and rear.

The paintwork is in very good order with no rust and an even colour finish everywhere. Obviously at 56 years of age it will have had the paint renewed at some point in the past. Whilst not a museum piece, we would suggest that you need carry out no paintwork refurbishment at all and that it is in very good, usable condition.

If you are looking for a lovely Mustang to use in this country then I can’t imagine you’ll find a better one to do the job, especially considering the RHD conversion.

Please watch our videos on our youtube channel to see all of the different aspects of this vehicle, as we couldn’t fit everything into one video!
